Kids Create is a 2 week intensive workshop where kids can learn the process and the ins and outs of what goes into making a show from A to Z. They have the opportunity to literally step into the roles of being a producer, a director, a writer, a performer, choreographer, stage manager, etc. This is an invaluable experience where we step back and they use their own creativity through our guidance to “create” a show that is all their own. The kids will designate each of their roles in the show, both behind the scenes and on the stage, and work on creating a theme for their show as a group. They take over everything even down to making the programs, to creating costumes, to making the show become something we know they can be proud of.
Last summer was our first experiment with this type of program and the results were outstanding. Our expectations were exceeded by the level of commitment, talent, and dedication each of the kids displayed. As professional observers, almost like mad scientists watching things unfold, by allowing the kids to take charge of this project they succeeded.
We look forward to launching the Kids Create program again this summer, so call the theatre right away to reserve your place.
